How to Find Your Fitness Level

Natural Treatments No Comments »

To find the right diet plan or diet e-book for you, you need to know your fitness level. These three tests will show you how to assess your fitness level without even leaving your house.

Check Your Heart Rate

First, check your heart rate to see if it is in a healthy range. A normal, healthy resting heart rate is usually around 60 beats a minute. To find what your resting heart rate is, check your pulse while you are still lying in bed. Find your pulse on your wrist with your index finger and middle finger. For 15 seconds count how many beats you feel. Multiply that number by four and you have your at rest heart rate.

If you find that your heart rate is quite a bit above 60, you may be somewhat out of shape and should aim for cardio exercise plans to strengthen your heart, as well as burn fat fast.

Checking Weight and BMI

Your weight and BMI or Body Mass Index should also factor into your diet plan.

Many people don’t weigh themselves properly, and this gives them an unreal image of their fitness level. To get a correct weight, weigh first thing in the morning. Do it naked and make sure that your scale is on hard, level ground. This will get you the most accurate weight possible.

Body Mass Index uses your accurate weight to show the percentage of body fat in relation to your lean muscle mass. Here is the formula for calculating your BMI:

1.      Take your height and multiply it, in meters, by itself and write that number down.

2.      Divide your weight, in kilograms, by the number you just wrote down.

3.      The total will be your BMI.

To decide if your BMI is in a healthy range, compare your number to these figures:

·         Below 18.5 is underweight

·         20-25 is considered a normal BMI.

·         Above 25 is considered an overweight BMI.

Tailor your workout plan and diet to the information you glean from these tests. If you are very overweight and strenuous exercise could cause injury, you may want to start with a diet that doesn’t require exercise; for example, this fatloss4idiots review. If you feel that you are a healthy weight and these tests tell you otherwise, consult with your doctor.

Does Vitamins and minerals effecting your sleep ?

Natural Treatments No Comments »

There are certain vitamins and minerals that if not at optimum levels in a person’s body, can contribute to insomnia.

Insomnia may mean you have a hard time going to sleep or that you have a hard time staying asleep. Usually, you will know if you are experiencing insomnia because you will remember tossing and turning or being awake at night

Insomnia can be caused by fear, stress, anxiety, medications, herbs, caffeine, depression, or other mental conditions and sometimes occurs for no apparent reason. An overactive mind or physical pain may also be causes. Finding the underlying cause of insomnia is usually necessary to cure it.

Sleep medicine is a recognized medical subspecialty. Doctors who specialize in sleep medicine help people who are unable to sleep well. Sleep doctors are able to detect and treat both common and rare sleep disorders. Some common sleep disorders are insomnia, jet lag, sleepwalking, snoring and obstructive sleep apnea.
A well balanced diet is important way to deal with sleep problems.  Check your iron level. Iron deficient women tend to have more problems sleeping, so if your blood is iron poor, a supplement might help.  Cut out coffee, chocolate, and caffeinated soda, particularly in the evening.  Carbohydrate snacks such whole grain crackers before bedtime may help to promote sleep. Gentle, slow music is another remedy that can help to improve sleep without medication.

A child who gets enough sleep and sleeps well is more likely to be cheerful during the day. The better the child sleeps, the happier the entire family will be. Most sleep problems in children are not a result of bad parenting. If your child has an ongoing sleep problem, then you should talk to your child’s doctor or to a sleep specialist. In reality, sleeping is your most valuable activity of the day.

Tryptophan is an amino acid that is a precursor to serotonin, which is then converted to melatonin.  Magnesium is a natural sedative. Deficiency of magnesium can result in difficulty sleeping, constipation, muscle tremors or cramps, anxiety, irritability, and pain.

When you eat a diet rich in fats, sodium, and unnecessary sugars, your digestive tract pays the price. One of the side effects of an unhealthy digestive tract is stomach upset, heartburn, and indigestion. In many cases, those symptoms show up at night when your body is trying to rest.

Since vitamins are so important both for growth and sleep, it might be a good idea that everyone in your family takes a vitamin supplement.

Diet And Fitness For You

Natural Treatments No Comments »

healthy

What does it mean to live a healthy lifestyle? Generally it means you participate in a healthful diet and fitness program, you don’t smoke, you limit alcohol consumption, and you maintain a normal weight. Sounds simple, doesn’t it? Not really? For most people, trying to balance an active lifestyle with a healthful lifestyle may seem impossible due to time constraints, job and family commitments or just simply lack of motivation. Maintaining your health does not mean living miserably.

Eating right does not have to be a chore. Simple changes you can make while on your next visit to the grocery store can get you on the right path to eating better. Small substitutions like eating more fruit and veggies and eating less refined and processed foods over time saves calories and increases nutrient content. Don’t force yourself to shelve your entire way of eating and start with something restrictive. Feeling deprived leads to failure. Go slow and enjoy each new item you add to the menu.

Exercise does not have to be a dirty word. If you lead a sedentary lifestyle, start slow and increase your activity level as you reach small goals you set for yourself. It may be just using the stairs at work instead of using the elevator. Over time, you might decide to walk for part of your lunch break. Eventually you may want to join a fitness center to increase your progress. Go at a pace you are comfortable with and enjoy.

If you smoke, consider a smoking cessation program. There are medications in pill, patch and gum form that can assist you in stopping. Talking to a counselor or adopting a quit-smoking buddy has been shown to help smokers quit smoking at higher rate than trying to go it alone. Side effects of smoking include rapid heartbeat, decreased circulation, and shortness of breath and more serious problems like cancer, emphysema and heart disease can eventually develop.

Drinking alcohol in moderation has actually been shown to benefit the cardiovascular system. However, consuming more than a glass or two a day can cause liver damage. The liver acts as a giant filter system of the body. When the filter is clogged, the body does not function properly. Jaundice, gallstones, blood clotting difficulties, organ failure and death can result when the liver is compromised.

Knowing your body mass index (BMI) can help you calculate what a healthy weight is for your body type. You can calculate your BMI by dividing your weight by the square of your height or go online and use a BMI calculating tool. Regulating your diet and fitness on a daily basis can help stabilize your weight.

You may have let yourself go. Your body feels sluggish and you have no energy. You may have health issues that run in your family. What should you do? Adopt a healthy lifestyle. Add healthier food choices to your diet gradually. Make health and fitness part of your daily routine. Stop smoking and drink a glass of red wine with a meal. To maintain a normal weight, eat right and increase your activity levels. The lifestyle goals you set for yourself are that much closer when you make small changes over a period of time.

Got Allergies? Get a HEPA Air Purifier

Natural Treatments No Comments »

If you suffer from allergies, HEPA air purifiers are the ultimate in clean air for your home. Air purifiers were initially launched as tools to get rid of unpleasant odors in the home. However, these days you can get a lot of additional advantages from using a HEPA air purifier, such as better air cleaning capabilities and lower levels of bacteria and viral contaminants in the atmosphere. They remove pollutants and allergens from the air and let you breathe more easily. Additionally, a HEPA air purifier is perfectly safe for the environment, including your home and your children.

The Beginnings of the HEPA Air Purifier

The basis for the HEPA air purifier goes back as far as 1940. It made its debut during the time of the Manhattan Project, when radioactive contaminants in the air were a serious concern. Since then, those air purifiers, which had no filter systems, were modernized with more functionality to meet the demands for improved air quality in our ever evolving society.

Nowadays, you can find air purifiers in a variety of institutions like medical centers and industrial plants. The air purifiers have been embraced by a vast array of manufacturing and service industries, including pharmaceutical, aerospace, nuclear, health care and electronics.

This high functioning product boasts a 99.99% reliability rating, and has shown itself over time to be a very effective tool. Today, if you judge by the huge number of favorable air purifier reviews, the HEPA air purifier is widely valued throughout the world.

How It Works?

There are three steps in the HEPA process: interception, impaction and diffusion. Since they consist of randomly ordered fibers, they are highly efficient when it comes to their ability to filter out undesirable particles. They grab pollutants and all types of other unsafe elements which can cause a variety of allergies, ailments and diseases.

The first step is the capture of a stream of air within one radius. The air is trapped by the filters and so the process begins. The next step is impaction, whereby large molecules are filtered by the tiny fibers within the air cleaner. The molecules continually decrease in size as the air travels through the fibers contained in the system. Finally, the process of diffusion takes place, caused by the air colliding with other gas particles.

There are many uses for a HEPA air purifier system, the most important of which is the highly effective way it rids the air of allergens that we regularly breathe in. You can’t totally eliminate the contaminants in the air by using a HEPA air purifier, but you can definitely reduce them substantially.
