To loose your hair at the best of times is a worrying experience for any man, but is many times more stressful when it happens to a woman. Baldness and hairloss over the course of a lifetime is not unusual for men, and can even be expected. It is different for a woman who experiences thinning hair or baldness, as it tends to attract the wrong sort of attention. This particular attention brings with it social consequences, and makes life very uncomfortable for the women concerned.
The appearance of male hair loss is a condition that can strike at any time during a person’s lifetime and can be as a result of a combination of events. As mentioned earlier, if you are a male then you are not going to be pleased, but you are more likely to accept the problem. It is particularly true if baldness if obviously genetic within the family history. But as a female, hairloss can have a devastating effect on your life, and trigger a total change in circumstance. I have listed below some reasons why hairloss can strike a woman:
1. Stress
This is much more common than most people would think, and can trigger a thinning of the hair and in some cases a total loss of hair known as Alopecia Totalis. Obviously this can also apply to male hair loss, as everyone suffers from stress at some point in their lives. Hairloss that may be attributed to stress can be treated with positive effects - just concentrate on the problem and try to eradicate it.
2. Hormonal Imbalance
Some women suffer from hormonal imbalances, including male pattern baldness which is the presence of too much male hormone in the body. Women can also suffer from a hairloss condition called estrogenic baldness, which is the result of a female hormone deficiency. The condition is also sometimes referred to as female pattern baldness.
What are the reasons behind the hairloss that women suffer as a result of this type of hormone imbalance? The main problem areas are orally taken contraceptives such as the Pill, the menopause and the post-natal stage of pregnancy.
3. Pregnancy
It is not unnatural having given birth, to experience some degree of female hair loss. This is caused by higher than normal levels of estrogen which develops during the pregnancy term. It is the process of readjustment to the correct pre-pregnancy levels of estrogen that causes the hair to fall out, which is a temporary condition.
